Typically, bread starts to go mouldy within around 10 days. However, the American company confidently claims that their novel technique can keep bread free from mould for a full two months. “We treated a piece of bread in a special machine. At 60 days it had the same amount of mould as it was first made,” elaborates Mr. Stull, the visionary leader of the company.
Despite the fact that numerous bread makers have shown a keen interest in this new technique, it seems that it will not be an easy job to win over consumers. Few customers are fond of the idea as they firmly believe that a piece of bread that lasts for 60 days simply cannot taste good. “We’ll have to make our customers accept the idea. But it will take some time,” admits Mr. Stull, believing the challenges that lie ahead.
